10-07-2008 our D8 was equipped with the Nürburgring-Race-Suspension developed by Michael Düchting and the special designed Donkervoort Bilstein Race shocks. Advantages: much stiffer wide track front suspension, better cornering, better geometry, higher level of adjustments possible. Have a look at http://www.heggemann.com. These guys have developed the new front suspension. They work for DTM, F1, Spyker etc.

On the left side the original rubber Donkervoort mounting bushings. On the right hand side the Heggeman mounting bearings. They are coming from Hirschmann and are used on the Porsche GT and Audi R8. The rubber Donkervoort bushing is limited to 20 degrees max. The new bearing is not, is maintenance free and no dust ore ware whatsoever.

On 11-07-2008 disaster stroke. At 05.15 AM while driving home (doing 110 km’s an hour) on the A3 in Germany I heard a sound in the back. It sounded like “cloenck”. Suddenly the car was uncontrollable and pulled strongly to the left straight into the road protection. A wrecked Donkervoort, which was driving better than even before, was the sour result of 5 years perfectioning the car! I personally think it was the rear spring positioner or the shock itself… hard to find out now… I can just say sh… and hope for the best with the insurance company(KNAC/ UVM). Luckily no personal injuries. It is an extremely strong chassis on impact. There are not many cars in which a crash like this leaves you with so little personal damage. Who is to blame...?
